The main objective of the alliance is to build a strong foundation for the emerging medical manufacturing sector in WA. It consists of: multiple product designers and manufacturers; SMEs looking to manufacture medical products in WA utilising the experience and expertise of those manufacturers; and The University of Western Australia (UWA) that is looking to facilitate the ecosystem, collaboratively foster innovation whether internally or externally initiated, and train the workforce of the future.

Funding Acknowledgement
In July 2023, Hon Roger Cook MLA, Premier of Western Australia, announced $148.4 million for ground-breaking projects to be funded by the Investment Attraction Fund. The University of Western Australia was allocated $2,698,292 from the fund for the development of the Springboard Medical Manufacturing Alliance, matched dollar-for-dollar by the founding alliance members: UWA; Adarsh Australia; Alcolizer Technology; Atamo Innovations; Metabolic Health Solutions; and VeinTech. The Investment Attraction Fund is administered by the Government of Western Australia’s Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation.
In 2023 and 2024, iPREP Biodesign is supported by funding from the Investment Attraction Fund via the Springboard Medical Manufacturing Alliance.
